Here are the carrying instructions for a Ring Sling
Heart to Heart – Legs out (BB-Sling)
- Determine which hip you wish to place the baby on, and place the sling over the opposite shoulder with the ‘tail’ facing forward.
- Tighten the sling through the rings, leaving just enough slack to place the baby inside.
- Start out with the rings high on your shoulder as they will move down once you place the baby and tighten the end.
- Make sure the fabric lies flat across your back and is not twisted.
- Resting the baby on your free shoulder, lift the band up over the baby
- and spread it out under the baby’s bottom.
- Pull the top rail up to the baby’s shoulders.
- Supporting the baby with one hand, pull the remaining fabric through the rings
- Pull on the corresponding rail to tighten under the bottom of the baby.
- Pull on the opposite rail to tighten the fabric at the baby’s shoulders.
- Make sure the fabric is spread out under her bottom and reaches out to her knees..
- The baby can keep her arms inside the band
- or leave them out.
Tips
- Use the open tail to cover baby when he is breastfeeding or sleeping, to protect him from wind or rain, or just to play hide-and-seek!
- If the rings fall in the wrong place, lift your baby up, grab hold of the band and the tail in one hand and shift the rings to the correct position. Reposition your baby in the sling

Tummy to Tummy (Maya)
- Put one arm through sling and pull the sling over your head
- Rest the rings in front of your shoulder. They should be high
- Verify the fabric is smoothly spread across your back
- Pull up the inner edges to create a pocket to hold the baby
- The upper edge should go almost up to your armpit.
- This is how your baby will be positioned in your sling
- Put your hand through the sling and bring your baby through.
- Pull the fabric up at least to the babies neck. Support the baby while you bring the excess fabric around to the rings
- Continue to support the babies weight while you tighten the sling. First pull the inner edge of the fabric across your body to tighten.
- Tighten the middle of the tail every few inches.
- If necessary tighten the outer edges.
- Roll the top edge of the fabric down so the babys face is clear. The roll will provide support to the baby’s head.
