Buckle Carriers include any carrier that does up with buckles. These types of carriers have heavily padded waist straps that are able to be adjusted to fit many different people. The shoulder straps are also padded. Buckles are popular with fathers, with mothers and are great for quick in and outs with larger babies. Buckle carriers are designed to move most of the baby’s (or toddler’s) weight down to the wearers hips. Otherwise known as soft structured carriers (ssc) these are the most structured carriers that are available at Tinoki. Manduca carriers can be used from birth as they have an inbuilt insert, other buckle carriers are for babies over 4/6m.
Mei Tais are traditional Asian babycarriers with a modern twist. Comfortable for both front and back carries, the unstuctured nature of these carriers allows for a perfect fit for all body shapes. We recommend the Mysol and the Didy-Tai as being the most suitable for newborns as both of those cinch in at the waist, making it possible to wear even the tiniest babies in an optimal legs out position. The BBtai has an infant insert that also allows it to be used with very small babies.
